Surgery Definition – What should be done after cannulation?
After cannulation and before the administration of the fluid 20 ml of the blood is collected for group and cross match. Full blood count is considered as well as urea and electrolytes studies. Glucose blood level is also considered. Patient oxygenation need to be maintained to prevent hypoxia as a result of inadequate ventilation Oxygen via intubation is considered if it is necessary. Direct pressure on the bleeding sites, elevation of the injured limb and head down tilt to maximize cerebral perfusion are considered to control external hemorrhage.
