Peutz Jegher’s syndrome is a multiple hamartomatous polyps and linked with the present of the mucocutaneous melanotic pigmentation. Peutz – Jegher’s syndrome is an autosomal dominant condition with less than 50 % have on gastrointestinal cancer by 40 years of age. Malignant transformation of polyps is rare.
Pathologically, multiple hamartomatous gastrointestinal polyps and mucocutaneous pigmentation on the lips , face and digit with the risk of developing gonadal tumors.
The clinical features of Peutz – Jehger’s Syndrome may include vague abdominal pain, , rectal bleeding and pigmentation and may present with gonadal tumors.
The investigation for Peutz – Jegher’s Syndrome may include double contrast barium enema and colonoscopy.
The screening of the Peutz - Jegher’s Syndrome may include colonoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy as well as small bowel follow through studies every 2 years after diagnosis.
