Ankle joint is also known as hinge joint which is formed by the upper end of the talus and lower end of the tibia and fibula. The ankle joint is also covered with synovium and consists of capsule where the blood supply is present. Ankle joint consists of anterior muscles which include tibia anterior and exterior digitorum and involve in dorsiflexion. Ankle joint also consists of posterior muscles which involve in plantar flexion such as soleus complex and gastrocnemius muscles.Ankle joint also include the medial muscles for inversion such as tibialis posterior and lateral muscles for eversion such as peroneii. Ankle joint consists of lateral and medical ligaments. Ankle joint facilitates the plantar flexion and dorsiflexion.
