Aflibercept is also known as Zaltrap or Eylea.Aflibercept is a part of the angiogenesis inhibitor which inhibit the growth of the new blood vessels. It is a form of drug which react by inhibiting the vascular endothelial growth factor A ( VEGF – A). Aflibercept is injected into the vitreous humor which prevent any growth of abnormal blood vessel and leakage in the eyes.Aflibercept is useful in treating wet age related macular degeneration and administered via intravenous infusion.It is given in combination with chemotherapy drugs in treating metastatic colorectal carcinoma.
