Acromegaly is a hormonal disturbance which is characterized by excessive secretion of the growth hormone and due to the benign tumor of the anterior part of the pituitary gland. Symptoms and signs of acromegaly may include overgrowth of the bones and soft tissues which are characterized by the large spadelike hands and feet, broadening of the bridge of the nose, prominent brow ridges, widely spaced teeth, excessive skin tags and enlargement of the tongue.There will be risk of cardiovascular disorders and large bowel carcinoma. Treatment may include surgical removal of the tumor which is known as adenomectomy , radiotherapy and hormonal therapy.
