Abiraterone acetates is a form of medication (trade name is Zythiga) which is used in treating any form of metastatic prostate carcinoma which appears to be resistant to the hormonal treatment. Abiraterone acetate will inhibit the action of the enzyme cytochrome P450 17A1 which involves in the production of testosterone from adrenal or prostate tissue. Abiraterone acetate is administered orally and the common adverse effects of abiraterone acetate are edema, hypertension, hypokalemia and liver problems.
