Star Anise
Star anise I also known as illicum verum which falls under the family of Illiciaceae Star anise is also known as illicum, Chinese anise and Chinese star anise. There are also other species of star anise such as Japanese star anise which is toxic in nature. Star anise is commonly found in Vietnam, China, Japan and India.

Star anise’s essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the fresh or partially dried fruit. Leaves also may produce the oil in small quantity.
